Sports Medicine Consultants can tailor these services to any contract agreement or event based on your needs.

1. Re-evaluation of current and future medical information distributed to official runners in registration packets, material supplied to official confirmation brochure, and web site.
2. Review of effects of hyponatremia with runners, medical volunteer staff, and discuss nutrition, hydration and participation with an injury or pre-existing medical condition.
4. Develop marketing strategies for medical sponsorship of Finish Line medical tent.
5. Provide medical program for athletes on marathon weekend (course talks); possibly incorporate medical sponsorship into this program.
6. Provide educational medical seminar for volunteers and other area medical personnel on marathon medical care.
7. Establish in writing, medical protocols and guidelines for volunteer medical staff. Protocols must be established for Start Area, Course Medical Tents, and Finish Line personnel.
8. Effectively tie in all medical communications programs, so that immediate hospital transports can be established and relayed to core medical team and medical director.
9. Develop medical plan that will effectively re-connect course medical program under the direction of Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer. SMC will work directly with an established medical director, and if necessary find replacement medical staff to provide same service.
10. Work with American Red Cross and other area medical groups in providing medical coverage along entire marathon course. Identify Team Captains and integrate these individuals into our overall Medical Committee.
11. Work with local EMS on developing a comprehensive tie-in with local and town EMS personnel working on the day of the race. SMC can negotiate and reimburse EMS services that are contracted for the event. Final EMS coverage plan will be agreed to by both SMC and event director.
12. Will establishing medical communications/tracking programs with area hospitals regarding injured runners. Programs will comply with all federal HIPPA regulations.
13. Establish a medical de-briefing with senior event staff at the conclusion of the marathon.
14. Provide established medical records system. Incorporate specific medical information on each official runner in our database for pre-event review and event tracking.
15. Establishment of specific protocols and post-race (next day) follow up of individuals still under the care of local hospitals.
16. SMC will recruit and coordinate all medical volunteer groups working the events. SMC will manage data base of medical volunteers, and provide access to officials of the event.
17. SMC will provide adequate medical supplies for medical stations at the start, along the course and at the finish line.
18. SMC will provide medical equipment that will include course tents, tables, chairs, and non-medical supplies for medical stations at the start, along the course and at the finish line.
19. SMC will assist and be on site with pre-race and race day medical coverage. SMC will provide at least 2 individuals on race day to implement medical plan.
